Hi guys

Even though i own a fair few domain names (in the 100's) I'm new to all this and have not yet attempted to sell / monetise any of them. I'd be grateful for any advice. I have a bunch of questions that i'll post separately, so many thanks in advance.

If for example I did own the domain www.visit.com and I wanted to target the keywords "visit America" which would be the better road to go down?

1) www.visit.com/america

2) www.visit.com/visit-america

3) http://america.visit.com

Cheers,

Mike

Nice domain Mike, I would avoid looking too spammy and go with: visit.com/america/

Thanks firestars & ScottJ for your advice

Just to note ScottJ I don't own this domain (wish I did) I was just using it as an example.

Also just to clarify if i did follow this E.g www.visit.com/visit-america

But who did you mean that this would come across as spammy to? Google or the end user?

Cheers,

Mike

Google is quite aware of keyword repetition and it's conceivable it could have an adverse effect if overused so I meant Google.

A couple of things to bear in mind when deciding your url structure -
1. Google indexes each subdomain as a seperate site (so you can feature more than twice in the serps)
2. Google gives more weight to the keywords nearer the start of the url

Not worth doing for a minisite however for a larger site is worth giving some thought to subdomains -
amercia.visit.com
england.visit.com
etc
