Feel free to test the domain availability tool below. I'm testing the core functionality to the unregged.co.uk site which is under development.

It allows searches on any valid .uk domain.

unregged domain search

Let me know thoughts on useability, output, questions, ideas for the finished site.

all looks ok - do you monitor what people put in the search box?

fair question. The answer is yes at the moment, as this is a site under construction. I want to make sure the db insert code is working right. When it's live everyone will have access to the results... level playing field and all.

The main site will have...
quick search... one domain with .uk suffix
selective word availability search
prefix-suffix word generation and search
word-list generation and availability search
previous result database search
domain registration

and eventually accountss and history search, and domain monitoring.

One of the reasons for the site is to teach myself some more complex php/mysql.

how much practice do you want? maybe you could get paid for your time

A bit similar to http://www.chinesewhispers.com/whois.php that I got the code for from a member on detagged I think.

Doesn't store any info, and nothing in the background. (as yet).

I just use it to do multiple searches quiclky, and often bookmark the output URL to run the same names again later, if I am away from home and run a specific area of interest.

Similar, yes, but it's a total rewrite. Even the fsock call is different! The rest is multiple validation, formatting, db - mysql.

The code for the word searches/generation is written.

Thanks for the testing. Ironed a couple of issues out... would be nice if the whois output was totally consistent! :) Keep posting, hopefully the full site will be online by next week.
