Hello. Do you think it is a good idea to purchase what i would regard as a good name for a domain, and then sell it at profit?.

Also when you buy a domain name it could be for one year. Is it possible to sell it after perhaps just 2 weeks, at a profit?

Which is the best way to make money from domain names. Create new names?, or buy expired domains?

lots of questions, thank you.

Always preferable to sell it for more than you paid :)

UK domains are bought for 2 years at a time, although you can transfer ownership at any point.

First you should put your wallet away and read and do research and learn about domains and domaining, look for what sells and what doesn't.

I agree. You need to look into this a bit more first. I've bought many domains that are great .. still get them and they're rubbish - lol.

good advice....

One good tip is to look for history in the domain name. If its an expired domain name and has a fair bit of history with websites on it etc then its going to be a far better punt than buying one that has never been registered...

You have to ask yourself why hasnt it been registered already... Ofcourse if you think ahead of the game you can also be a winner with new reg's :D

Good luck!

is it possible to have a domain name, without it being regestered, ie to test how popular it is?

A TAG holder is a registrar at Nominet, which allows you to register domains directly.

You have first to become a member of Nominet (£400 fee + £100 per annum thereafter) and then apply to be a TAG Holder.

See http://www.nic.uk/registrars/becomeregistrar/

Cheers

Martin

Incorrect.

You have to be a Tag Holder (which is free) to become a member (which is dependent on a fee)
