I'm planning on setting up a mini site very soon based on all things comedy

I'm hoping to sell dvds from bottom live to Norbit and joke books,funny e-books,the Simpsons,Men bahaving badly,Benny hill,Carry on movies.
Posters and other bits.

You get the idea now

This is my challenge for the year, make a mini site and get it a good PR, like top 10 and ofcourse earn some revenue, i have ditched parking completely,all nameservers back to default.

Seriously though, comedy sounds like a tough niche and low ticket value. Only saying that as it seems like the sort of site you could have 5,000 uniques a day to and make $5 from them.

Fun to develop though but if its for cash i would be inclined to take a less competitive, higher profit niche.

Now you'll probably go and make millions from it lol but just my 10p worth.

EDIT this is supposed to be a thread for suggestions so mine would be to have a page for each comedian in the U.K, find a list etc then make a page profile on them. Goal being to rank in Google for their name and update it according to tour dates, video titles etc etc and rank for those too as soon as they are announced. Amazing the amount of traffic you can get from this sort of activity. Then you can sell the current DVD titles as soon as they are bought out, get an affiliate deal for tour tickets etc etc.

Then maybe try to interview a leading comedian or 2 and think of some viral stuff to post around the web that is funny etc etc (should be easy for comedy). Jokes sections where people post jokes and then comedy club dates and sponsorship. Links to youtube videos. Actually this is fun, im going to start one, strike my first paragraph!!

Rob you probably right it won't make a fortune but i made very little from parking rand now moved onto mini sites,was just looking for a generic.co.uk based on exact search for phrase in this case 18k per month.

Rob you are spot on with parking, I moved all mine back from Sedo to my own site. Had enquriy after enquiry since (usually get one every 2 months on 900 domains).

Parking revenue used to be good but now it's dropped of a cliff.

Get a quick mini site up there doodlebug and spend a day on it, it's not only the quanity or quality of the content that ranks well, it's the frequency of the updates.

So just keep changing the odd keyword on ea few pages and you are laughing (Sorry couldn't resist).

I thought once you got a good page rank changing page descriptions and tags would make you drop.
I thought it was important to just change content regulary.
But i will listen as my SEO experience is very little, this will be the first site i actively try to get a good page rank.
