companieshouse.co.uk is already suspended and expected to drop 27 Nov 2020

What's that all about?

Any possibility to be claimed by GOV?

At the very least I believe nominet will require a valid reason as to why you should keep the domain and what purpose you intend the domain to be used, it would have been suspended by the Nominet automated systems, the same appears to have happened to the .uk from the RoR in July.

It's not a domain I would like to see available on the market to be honest.

I Agree, just imagine the chaos it would cause in the wrong hands! Companies House is already a favourite for the scammers!

They shouldn't have let it expire then really. They put it through the drop cycle, listed it in their files, etc And considering the amount of times many other domains don't drop at their supposed time/date (with no explanation but nominet supposedly know why) they haven't got an excuse. Maybe someone needs to show them how their registry works :p I don't know if it's cost Graeme but if so I'd be looking at some kind of legal recompense.

Any new registration containing a Government department or even a High Street Bank etc will now get suspended automatically under “Domain Watch”:

https://registrars.nominet.uk/uk-namespace/security-tools-and-protection/domain-watch/

However looks like GW has had the suspension lifted now under:

If a domain is suspended, the registrant will receive an email informing them what has happened, together with the next steps required if they feel the suspension was not correctly applied

Not in a few days. The few I've had that didn't match were months before they actually got suspended and I was forced to put an extra space or apostrophe in the registrant name to match their 'records'.

I would imagine GW has contacted Nominet directly as a tag holder given the overall worth of companieshouse.co.uk (I expect someone like Companycheck.co.uk to pay big bucks for it) where as companieshouse.uk was caught for a client who might not be a tag holder or might not even be aware of the suspension, as Whois-Search said; DomainWatch will trigger a suspension, This is usually within 12 hours of registration and you need to contact Nominet directly to have them consider the activation of the domain.

I just cannot see building any kind of business on this with the threat of it being pulled under your feet at any moment. It's not logical.
I thought the same thing, If I would have got it for a maximum of £300, I would have done a 301.

It can only ever have value as two uses.
To provide companies house data which will be blatant "passing off" as it is an exact match, or a scam site. Both options will be short lived in my opinion.

That's not true, there are a lot more uses for it. The real value in this name isn't even in those two examples that you mention.

There's only 'real value' in this domain for someone that wants to mislead people.

If you only knew of the people laughing at that statement right now. Like I said, it's not even the biggest value in the name. That's all I'm willing to share though.

For the record the domain is no longer suspended, GW has now been told he can keep the domain by Nominet, hilarious how he is using cloudflare nameservers though, maybe he is worried about a ddos on his own server due to amount of traffic and dns queries haha?!
