Scenario
You have a short brandable domain name which you feel would be a good business name but the name has a derogatory meaning in certain parts of the country.

Would you form a company and use it or not want the stigma of it meaning something else to others?

example xxxxx name, but in welsh slang it means turd.

I would say it all depends what sort of business would be using the name and what sort of costumers would be targeted. Lets take gaming website - it can work very well, but for asset management company would not be worth the risk.

Using the word brandable normally means its not generic to the item so to speak...
Then to identify your goods and service's as distinct from others then use one that has a negative, derogatory association with it is an uphill battle… There are so many “ brandable” names out there why bother

If some of your potential clients might be aware of the derogatory meaning, I'd rather avoid it.

Too risky IMO, a bad name will jeopardize possible future growth.
