Sorry, I guess I am confused about the process...if domain england.co.uk becomes available, everyone who has purchased a credit at a site like detagged are in the running, and its whoever gets lucky? How does detagged put us in order so its fair?

Please explain to a newbie.

detagged are dropcatcher, they only take one booking for a name, there's several hundred other tag holders that can also go for the name and people might book with them but invariably england.co.uk would be caught by one of three people as the industry is so competitive.

And that's when you'll have to pay out £175,000 to buy it.

Still confused...

So who are these 3 people, and why do they have an upper hand? If I can have a one in several hundred chance at getting a $350,000 name, that sounds good - what am I missing?

they have the upper hand becuase they have better scripts/software.
they have more than likely spent alot of time and effort perfecting their
script/software.

it is possible to still compete with the big boys if you have the time and the money to invest.

who are these people? keep checking the who caught what section on
deleting.co.uk

I'm afraid you won't learn what differentiates the wheat from the chaff on here or anywhere else. No one is going to share their secrets.
I'm not convinced it is the script or hardware which makes the top catchers any better but I won't start the conspiracy theory posts which seem to start on every dropcatching thread.
I am in the process of setting up a script etc... and As far as I can tell the script is in one of the fastest languages and coded well, the mails will be as quick as possible to send and it will be running over a very fast pipe.
If I go for 1 domain on 1 day and the usual beat me to it then I don't know what the trick is! I'll let you know how I get on once up and running!

I'm sure there is no distinguishing drop pattern as others would of cottoned on by now. It is supposed to be random but computers can't be totally random though, they have to follow some algorithm?

Hops to nominet server? not convinced it's a major part.

What does that leave?
