Hi!

I guess this is something many of us with large portfilios of mini-sites have considered doing.

Example would be let's say if you had 100 "hotelsinxx-geoxx.co.uk" and you combined them into one mega site with sub folders for each geo.

Has anyone here done this and what was your experience?

Experience hit and miss, the more you 301 the more likely you are to get penalized, short of you not being mega brand redirecting HQ sites I think its pretty well guaranteed you will get zapped before you even hit double figures.

We did it when transferring from Paymatters to umbrella co uk and our positions for umbrella type searches has (as hoped) improved.

With 100's of sites it looks very suspicious as any Webspam engineer or outsourced Indian Google employee is going to ask why you had that many sites in the first place?

I wouldn't risk it.
