I think sometimes we are guilty of judging names by our own likes or dislikes, or what we personally deem to be valuable. Make no mistake about it, the online games sector, and games aimed at girls (cooking,fashion, dressup games) is absolutely huge. Some of these sites in are the top few thousand most visited sites in the entire world.

I wouldn't have paid that sum, but people are looking at the name and effectively saying "what's so good about that", when it's a tremendously popular term. Try getting dressupgames.com (another crap sounding but ultra popular name/site) for under half a million dollars. It won't happen).

I've read reports that some of the largest .com players have inked deals with search engines to get copies of their search logs (and I guess they could do the same with major DNS resolution services, or toolbar producers, etc.) so they have the inside track on what people are searching for...

That is what I am dreaming for years - to get the search logs of G. May G publish the logs or sell, I will be the first one to buy that info.

I think it is not a bad name. "Cooking games" got 550k exact search volume in last December in UK alone.

Results 31 - 40 of about 34,500,000 for cooking games .. result from Google.com (world search not geo Goog from your geo location) cookinggames.com doesn't get a mention in the first three pages of results ...

The traffic is type-in .. even without a space cookinggames doesn't rank/G,page postition .. Even cookinggames.tv is #1

The guys who purchased this name and the guy who sold it are major league players they are on a level of their own where ordinary domainers cannot tread .. if you had owned cookinggames.com .. you would be pushing to obtain low to mid $xxxx for it .. take note that Cookinggames.co.uk is also for sale by Nokta and it is a Domainsponsor landing page ... game traffic on PPC is low value per click a game name needs a ton of traffic to get anything worthwhile out of it .. go figure huh ...
