So

domain 1 - using the root directory of your webspace.
domain 2 - using the same ns as domain 1, no forwarding in place, so its picking up the index.html of the root directory.

My question is, using Cpanel, is there anyway of setting domain2 to look for index2.html ?

TIA

A solution would be to add a mod_rewrite to the .htaccess file at root.

I think i understand what your saying!

Have you tried setting up an add-on domains?

Setup addon domains - Quick Whois

That way you put the files for domain 2 in a seperate directory.

Excellent, that works. I had added the second domain but not activated the forwarding!

Is there anyway of masking this, as it now shows as www.domain1.co.uk/domain2.

My other fear is spidering, will this forwarding get past the normal redirect problems and actually get listed with search engines?

Thanks!

I've got domains setup as add on domains.

I can access view them via three different methods.

domain2.xyz

domain2.domain1.xyz

or domain1.xyz/domain2

Cpanel should have automatically set it up to be masked, might be worth checking with your host if it has'nt masked it.

Just seen your edit, if the 'masking' works, meaning you can view domain2.xyz with no subdomain or directory then you'll be fine for search engine spiders.

I have several sites on subdomains and have never had any spidering / indexing problems.

BFTUK - thanks for your help.

I can now make them all forward to the correct locations, I just to the forwarding to work and im good to go. I will do some digging about in case I have missed something.

Thanks again.
