ok nominet i know you read AC so come on explain to us why the DAC is so very unstable and is down more than up. We know it is beta but thats doesnt mean you can keep saying to us its in beta so theres nothing we can do. If you would post once in a while what the problems are that would help. oh and i have join no non annouce thing and you dont even update that regular.

Also has anyone actually caught anything using the DAC ?

Nominet make so much money and they cant even get this right.

So JAY D, come on enlighten us all with what that problems you are having are, then maybe we will understand. But at the moment i know a handfull of TAG holders that are so p*** off with nominet and this DAC.

D.A.C i was told stands for Die All Catchers, which means stick all domain catchers on the DAC and never get it working.

Sorry to be on a moaning streek but it is so annoying.

I agree, how can a system be beta tested when it very rarely works in the first place. To me the DAC seems like a half finished project that is nowhere near the beta stage?

thank you grant. Dosent Actually Catch...it also stands for aswell.

So annoying.

Come on TAG holders dont stick your head in the sand post here and show your feelings.

We know it is in Beta so no need for anyone to tell us. But we want to know why it isnt working and what is being done about it.

I agree it's very very annoying - it's horribly unreliable. From reading what Nominet have said about it on the DAC beta mailing list, it would appear that Oracle are partly to blame. Not sure whether they're using bleeding edge technology or what, but I would have expected better from Oracle.

The most frustrating thing for me is that, once it's gone down, it seems to take ages to get it back up again.

Maybe they should just use PHP/MySQL instead :)

I have a monitoring script that sends a mail each time connection fails... I'm getting spammed!!

It's failing within minutes of starting up again. Big Oracle memory allocatikon problems. I've got the feeling they've blocked the port for now.

Still, the mails from nominet have been sporadic at best, and they haven't said anything in the last couple of days.

Yes it works... caught anz.co.uk amongst a few others.

Look forward to a more stable system.

also if they can produce a system that blocks you if you go 1spec over the 1000 im sure the dac would be a piece of cake to develop.

i have also noticed emails returning back at least 20-30 minutes later in batches.

Any tips to fine tune a DAC script?

Aside from all the usual technical stuff, think as cunningly as you can.
