OK, own up. Who tried to buy this using BIN on sedo a few minutes after the DL auction finished? It's a domain I dropped a while ago... in hindsight one I shouldn't have.

It's caused no end of shit with sedo now wanting commission for 'not' selling something they shouldn't have.

Really the last straw with those fuckwits! :/

I don't understand. Was it still listed in your Sedo account even though you dropped it a while back?

(BTW, I'm not the person who bought via Sedo - or via DL - I'm just curious)

Yes. I normally remove the domains from my sedo account when they're dropped but his was a recent one and I've not got round to dealing with them. I've moved all the others to make an offer from bin.

No offer in 6yrs then used the bin 10mins after the DL auction finished. I presume to try and get around the DL auction.

I know who it is cos they've just requested an invoice... after I requested the escrow payment refunded & the transaction cancelled. Which sedo have done... but are still going through with it.

jokers

Almost sounds like they were trying to cause trouble for someone. The new owner couldn't have had it transferred via Nominet, in their Sedo account and verified in 10 minutes, so they were trying to buy from the person who had sold it on DomainLore.

Shouldn't Sedo have taken the name out of your list? the n.s was pointing to DL even a few days before the auction started.

Fuck knows. Don't care. They'll get money from me over my rotting bloodied corpse!

You dropped a domain and didn't delete it from your sedo account where it was listed as a buy now.
Someone bought the domain at the price listed ( you of course can't deliver the name because you don't own it ) and sedo are asking you for the 10 %commission.

Is this correct ?

pretty much. I requested sedo to cancel it straight away... within 5mins and before they accepted payment & invoicing.

Scary !

I had never considered the result of this situation, and yet it is so obvious.
We've probably most of us done it ourselves, you let a name drop and forget to delete it from your sedo account.
Could you now be sued by the purchaser to deliver the domain.

How much was the buy now price ? if you don't mind revealing.

What it went for on DL give or take. What annoyed me most - apart from adding insult to injury - is that sedo have done f&*k all about the fallen through sales in the last couple of years when an agreed sale has not been paid for. And releasing the name of the 'purchaser' is not doing something...

Probably a warning to everyone to check their sedo listing or at least turn off BIN... which is what sedo want you to use. Ironic really isn't it!

Still won't get anything from me.

Yes, a purchaser is not such easy prey as a large portfolio owner seller, where the penalty of being barred is effective.

It's also open to abuse if it can be identified that the listed domain is not owned by the seller.

You may have opened a can of worms.

Seting up buy now price for .co.uk on Sedo is bad idea. You just opening you self for for potential liabilities.

Tifosi - i feel your pain.

Worst situation is letting a domain drop then recieving a high £xxx starting offer, happened to me recently. Off to tidy my Sedo account up now.... :t
