Dmoz

After moaning at a lack of aff sales I've kicked myself up the ass and got on the net doing things SEO related, I've entered my 1st 5 sites to Dmoz, I put them into relevant categories and with suitable titles and all 5 contain useful information rather than just aff banners and adsense.

What effect have other users add in using Dmoz ?

you realise you will wait minimum weeks, probably months to find if acccepted and also 99/100 you wont be accepted
no being negative just pointing out
being in dmoz just helps ranking and pagerank
had a couple accepted in past, but know really good webmasters who have had none accepted
quite hit and miss but if a really good site you stand a reasonable chance
let us know if you get in

I don't bother with dmoz anymore. Far too frustrating and not worth the stress imho, it's a bit hit and hope. You submit the site and have no idea if it gets rejected. You could ask on their forum but I don't know if thats still the case. Thats assuming things haven't changed. I had some sites in and others i thought were better that never got in.
I even thought of becoming an editor thinking it might help!

Thanks for your replies, yes I read the terms and conditions thoroughly, I don't expect to get in but you never know ?

I'm now going to concentrate on bookmarking sites, I've been so lazy with SEO, I have a choice - do what's neccassary to get sales or go back to agency work

So I'm going all out on my amazing mini sites lol

Dmoz is a useless metric - carries no real weight any more. It has usurped itself.

I submitted 3 sites and it took 2 years to get 2 of them in. The other one wasn't accepted.

I noticed because I started getting traffic from there. Not sure how useful it is, but it felt like an achievement when I got 2 in
