Just received this email from Nominet, is this a standard email or has someone request the info?

To be honest i did'nt even realise that i had opt'ed out of displaying my details.

Although the domain name is generic, it does rank well for some service / product names.....

Hi,

It has been brought to my attention that you are using your domain name
for business or trading purposes and are also opted out of our WHOIS
search facility as a consumer. To opt-out, you must be, and remain a
'consumer' i.e. an individual who has registered and is using the domain
name for a purpose unconnected with any business, trade (this includes the
registration of domain names for monetisation purposes, e.g. pay per click
etc) or profession.

Please note that I will remove the 'opt out' tomorrow and the address
details that we hold for you will be published on the WHOIS search
facility.

The reason for this is that the domain name is being used as part of a
business, trade or profession.

If you wish to continue to remain opted out of our WHOIS you will need to
arrange for the web site to be changed so that you do not advertise
business activities using this domain name.

If you have any questions please do contact me.

Regards,
Louise Maishman

cant really tell.

i used to get these from time to time.. its either another domainers wants your details, nominet have stumbled on your domain and its parked or someone wants to drs you.

i would not worry about it :) its a very standard email

Its happened to me about 5 times, none of them have lead to any further action. All of them were reported to Nominet by someone but they refuse to give away the name of the 'grass'.........There's some saddos out there with way too much time on their hands!

Nice to get a e-mail from Nominet in advance !

A couple of mine, the who-is opt has disappeared and then Postman Pat comes a few days later 'knocking at the door' with a registered post letter. I hate that as all my domains have a contact link on the parking page where I will always reply to any sensible enquiry.

Best Regards
