So I'm looking for a tool that will help us keep prices up-to-date for a variety of 'recommended' products.
For instance, you might have a watches website with a 'best men's watch' page listing ten watches, each of which can be bought at a number of different stores (Amazon, John Lewis, H Samuel, whatever).
We want to collect regularly updated prices for each store, so that we can recommend the cheapest place to buy (hooking it up as an affiliate link, naturally).
The tool needs to:

- Run some sort of web service or API, so that we can code and schedule our own scripts to collect the price information (and link directly to the retailer ourselves)
- Preferably handle being in/out of stock
- If it could recommend other places that sell the product at a better price, so much the better
- Likewise if it had any awareness of suitable discount codes
