Domain Already Registered at Caught.co.uk Etc.. What next?

Hi.

This is a bit of a new world to me and I never expected to uncover the complexities of securing a domain name you wanted! Ha.

I'm after a .co.uk domain and after a bit of reading around on here visited caught.co.uk, DomainMonster plus a few others and on these first-come-first-served sites the domain is already reserved to be caught for somebody else! Agh!

I managed to register a backorder with DomainRecover and DACr, but I'm skeptical of success now in light of what I previously discovered.

It's not due to drop for a couple of months still and is just sitting suspended right now. But am I already out of luck and likely to be defeated, or is there some miracle service that might save my day?

You realise too that it might not be the same person, you'll find these days that there are maybe, i dunno, upwards of 50-100 very capable people/companies who regularly succeed when chasing the popular domains. Good luck, but I wouldn't bet your shirt on getting it!

I've been reading people's posts about private drop systems. How does one go about venturing into perhaps enlisting their services and are they any more likely to have success than the public ones such as caught.co.uk ?

There's no miracle service, there's a fair amount of luck in drop catching which makes it a numbers game, the more catchers you can book with the more you increase your chances of getting lucky.

Normally I'd agree but I doubt many private catchers will offer slots a couple of months in the future and if it's so popular that it's booked everywhere else then most will probably try to catch it for themselves anyway.

I must admit I did see that earlier. But as someone else has pointed out - the question remains then what is to stop them just taking it then looking to charge you an arm and a leg for it?

But I suppose the same might be said for the commercial services in a way also, albeit it more unlikely.
