Does anyone else use Domain Monster for hosting? I've now been waiting over 48 hours for them to diagnose, what I believe, is an email server fault... Each day that ticks by is costing money.

Am I expecting too much?

Or should up sticks and move to a different host?

Not a perfect solution, but anyone using a domain for mission-critical email should consider subscribing to a backup mail service so that at least if your regular email server can't be reached, the email is getting queued up somewhere for later retrieval rather than simply bounced or discarded.

There are a lot of companies that offer this sort of thing - I tend to add it as a bolt-on when I set up a domain's DNS through http://www.zoneedit.com/ - all you have to do is add an extra MX record (and activate the backup email option, which costs an extra credit)

Thanks for your reply Edwin,

The problem is that I have a sign up form on my site (Hosted with DM), when the user enters their details, an email is then sent to my personal account (not associated with the domain) which includes the info entered into the form.

At the moment this isn't working, previously, Domain Monster found a fault with their mail relay settings...

I'd ditch domain monster, been taken over my lying inept monkeys.

Doesn't help you much now I appreciate, but a little hassle now will save you a world of pain in the future.

Currently I'm recommending EvoHosting and WebHostingBuzz (mdrussell on the forum is the main man there) and their will move your site for you :)

care to share your experience with domain monster? I'm considering jumping ship.

I only used domain monster for domains, but then they started tasting my domains (changing the name servers to their own upon expiry for a week or so then changing back to my name servers before suspension, hoping I and others wouldn't notice).

No direct contact with them hosting wise however they are now run by host europe, aka 123-reg aka webfusion aka lying monkeys.

Search the forum for 123-reg, webfusion, host europe, heart internet, etc and you'll see many many reports of how they are inept and they subsequently screw every good thing they buy.

They could be soooo much more, but such a disappointment.
