Hello everyone,

I'm not a domainer at all, but over the years seemed to have collected several domains with the purpose of perhaps doing something with them.

However, life has moved on and I feel that I need to sell some of these domains and would appreciate some advice.

Please can you tell me what statistics are important when selling a domain. For example, when the domain was registered, keywords, etc. If at all possible, I would appreciate to know what these statistics mean and how I can find them out for each domain I am looking to sell.

I am looking at listing them on Sedo to start with (although no idea of prices as yet) and perhaps try to sell to end users as I feel that several have more potential for bigger £'s this way. Any advice here?

Sorry if I'm asking basic questions, but forums are quite daunting to me and I have tried to find answers but I'm getting overwhelmed!!

Thanks in advance

:t

Some observations

Welcome

Some big questions to deal with.

Which extension? - this forum mainly deals with .co.uk and .org.uk domains

Price - it will depend on the domain, consider listing them here on the thread as you may get some opinions as to saleability and value. ( for completeness - if you have an offer it will depend on the buyer!).
Also it helps to look at the sale prices obtained on domain sold websites and the offer threads here,
but be careful just because somebody is asking for £500 for a domain it does not mean it is worth that or they will get offers around that amount.

Sedo.co.uk -if list at Sedo, don't expect a quick sale, my experience is about 1% of any domain listed in your account will get an offer over the course of a year.
So that is one offer per year per hundred domains listed, and those domains must be of reasonable quality to even get that level of interest.

Domainlore.co.uk - is a potentially quicker way to sell domains, will not always get end user prices mainly domainer sales.
However due to Nominet .uk proposal domainers are not very hungry for more UK domains at present. But the .uk decision is due out in the next few days or so!

Regarding statistics, because of EMD (exact match domain) changes by Google the keywords in the domain don't carry as much weight as they did in terms of price
but can still make a difference if really short and premium.
The date of registration can alter price but it would need to be pre 2007 registration to make a difference in my experience.

The extension (or tld) will make a great difference in price, .co.uk being more valuable than .org.uk and domains without hyphens are more desirable and hence sell for more.

Good luck and hope you gain some knowledge from the forum.

Thanks Murray and Stephen, you've given me something to work on.

I had listed on Sedo a couple of years ago and nothing happened, so I removed them after feeling frustrated with it. However, this time around I have received an offer on one within a day of listing them. I listed them all as 'make an offer' temporarily, with the intention of updating them with BIN figures shortly. The domain I received an offer on was sewnice co uk but the offer is probably as low as it could get and I don't want to accept it. Surely this domain is worth something?! Will this happen all of the time, that people offer silly low prices?
