UPDATE: TARGET REACHED WITHIN AN HOUR OF SITE GOING LIVE! NO MORE MONEY REQUIRED! MANY MANY THANKS EVERYONE!

Sorry folks for this rushed post, but time is very tight.

If you believe in Christmas, I would be grateful if you would visit the hastily made Adopt A Family website and consider donating £10 to make Christmas come true for two children.

I'd really appreciate it.

Many thanks for your time,

George Marshall

Really appreciate your lightning response Dale. Thanks to Philip Orchard too. incredible - within minutes of the site going live. Domainers rule!

Have just sent donation.

Good luck George, hope you hit your target :)

Yeah - good bunch here. I'm sure you'll reach your target - probably by the end of the evening ;)

I thought I'd wake up tomorrow with maybe one or two donations. Honestly can't believe it.

Looking like you'll easily go past your target :), in which case, it might be an idea to buy each of them a bike helmet as well.

Donation sent

Great idea, systreg. George if you hit your target definetely keep collecting. Between hemets, locks, etc etc you can easily double your cost (i know I did the last time I bought a bike)

Kev, cheers for the extra donation- Richard too. I will add bike helmets to the shopping list. Excellent idea. Two kids are going to have a FANTASTIC Christmas for the first time in a long time thanks to you lot.

UNBELIEVABLE!

Within an hour of the site going live the target has been reached for two bikes, helmets and locks.

I can't thank you all enough. Many many thanks.

I know on your site you said you reached your target, but I had some extra in my paypal not doing anything. So get them some chocolates or something, glad it's going to a worth while need.

Just a very quick update.

After waking up bright and early to discover another three inches of snow had fallen, I quickly discovered that getting bikes so near to Christmas wasn't going to be easy!

But the good news is that two brand new bikes were eventually bought, built and delivered along with locks, pump, etc., to a secret location away from children's eyes ready for collection on Christmas Eve! Helmets were a slight problem because I didn't have sizes so I gave vouchers for those instead.

It's taken up most of today. but what a day!

Thanks again to everyone who contributed to what is simply a random act of kindness towards two children in need who we will never know and who will never know us, but will have a Christmas to remember!

I'll update the adoptafamily.co.uk site in the New Year because the Social Work dept who have handled this have said they will update me then.

Merry Christmas everyone!
