Hi I am new to buying domain names,The question is . I have just bought a domain name which is the .com of the last company i worked for it is a ltd company. they have only registered the .co.uk .I did it to annoy the owner however does he have a legal right to own it. Can i sell it to him if i explain to him the reduced marketing capability his compnay is losing without the .com version. Can i set up a website in the same industry as he is in usins the registered domain i have. Some info on my legal rights would be appreciated. I know this man would rather spent a fortune fighting in court than to give me a penny. Many Thanks E

Sorry mate, but are you mad or what?

It's an abusive registration as you've clearly just admitted. You can't claim you've never heard of the company because you worked there, trading in the same sector would probably infringe their rights. You say the business owner would rather spend a fortune fighting in court than buying the domain from you, if it comes to that you could be looking at some serious financial damage.

My advice is don't buy any more domains until you know what you're doing and the potential consequences.

This has to be a wind up by someone who assumes all domainers are cybersquatters.
