I've been trying to download an MP3 file - it seems to download, but when it's finished it says that 0 bytes are in the file, and when I try to open it (using Windows media Player) I get this popping up

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

Anyone know why it's not downloading? I've downloaded similar files from the same source in the past with no problem.

Any help appreciated.

maybe was uploaded wrong and is an empty file
just cos it has that format doesn't mean it has to have any content

right click before downloading and look at properties
see size of file, if empty, there's your answer

Right clicking just brings up;

Open link in new tab
Open link in new window

Bookmark this link
Save link as...

etc

I went to re-download a similar file from the same source and the same has happened - 0 content downloaded whereas previously no problem.

Going to try on a different computer...

Thanks for your input brother Pred!

Thanks Seemly, but that's what I've been doing.

I've tried on 3 computers now and keep getting the same - have told the source to look into it...we'll see what they come back with.

Thanks for helping.

I've had problems like this with video that were due to not having codecs correctly installed....you could search for and install the 'K-Light Codec Pack' and see if that makes any difference....it's a bit weird if it's just MP3 though, I suppose it might have been compressed in an odd way

Thanks steller - just downloaded that, but still no joy. I'll see what the source come back with.

Update - looks like a browser issue, still can't download in Firefox but could do one of the two files in Safari, but not both.
