Drop Catching .COM domains

The US market is different in that individuals don't do dropcatching, more big companies, because it costs so much to be a registrar. You'll need companies like snapnames.com, namejet.com and pool.com.

If it's a desirable .com name then the answer to that is going to be no.

Depending on who the current registrar is (some are tied to certain houses) track the name at GoDaddy, or book it at Namejet, Pool & Snapnames and jump through the hoops as it expires.

No other way of doing it really, as individuals don't stand a chance doing com if they're booked by someone through the above. If they're not booked with a big player then try hand regging it in the drop window or using something like Dynadot's API.

Regards.

Yes, but that's the way it'll be done over here soon, especially once the venetian blinds are fitted to Nominets' boardroom after next weeks' EGM!

It's not specifically desirable from a generic point of view. It was only first registered last year and has been sat on a holding page. I own the .co.uk and want the .com but from a domaining/online point of view it has little value, this is for a static front customer facing venture.

I've had some success with picking up .com's after the larger registrars tasted it. It's been about a year since I last tried though and to be honest the domains I caught were less desirable (hence there wasn't any bids so it was dropped again). What's the current expiry date of the domain?

I'd personally book it with whoever picks up that registrars domains (pool / snapnames for example).

So bid for it on GoDaddy then - they have their own expiring name marketplace. It won't drop until the Summer though, if it drops at all.
