I lined up 3 domains to try and grab today using Dropcatcher.co.uk (first time using them).

The first one I had no luck. Oh well...

I noticed, during the day, that the second and third dropped. I thought that I would also try to registered them on my own knowing that if dropcatcher had already done the business then my registrar would refund so nothing to lose. I was shocked that my own attempts actually registered!

So I am either faster than the dropcatcher monitoring scripts or dropcatcher.co.uk is not working. I will email dropcatcher to find out whats going on but I emailed them 3 days ago regarding an query and still have not had a reply.

I do hope this is a blip as I hoped to pick up a fair number of domains in the next few months. Are they reliable?

I think he said he manually reg'd them himself.

I did notice yesterday the DAC had some slow moments, so their script could have timed-out and fallen over when your domains dropped.

Thanks Aquanuke. That would explain it.
I did notice the whois was lagging and saw a thread on here about it. Not a typical day I hope.
