Ebay / Amazon type e-store

I am after a shop or auction site to run (Ebay / Amazon type thing), I have looked at Magento which looks really good but my hosting company (Fasthost) does not offer PHP Extension "mcrypt" on the £70 a year package.

Anybody got any ideas, as low cost as possible with the credit crunch and all.

Fasthosts are crap for PHP, I use (and a few others on here) BPWeb for all my PHP stuff, cheap and very good.

as for script, I think Hot Scripts :: The net's largest PHP, CGI, Perl, JavaScript and ASP script collection and resource web portal might have something your looking for.....
