Does anyone directly email possible interested business about domains for sale? Is this type of active marketing allowed? Can you promote sedo listing etc?

I guess the only issue is if you try and sell the company their own registered name except in certain circumstances?

any information, example email would be much appreciated.

Yeah I know thats what you should do but not sure its too difficult to explain / sell at the wrong time or do you have as much success with a brief random email that hits at the right time?

i'm more comfortable with just waving it under their nose and see if they bite. I know this isnt the best way but i'm not a salesman

perhaps the trick is to aim for the smaller outfits where the decision makers are more accessible. You cant sell every domain name to google etc!

I have found e-mailing quite poor, a lot of businesses still just dont understand domain name value, even at give away prices many just dont get it!!

You could try letter but the amount of research needed to find companies is quite substantial. If you are not a sales person then just dont call, after the tenth no, you will get very fed up!

Tele sales if a specialist market, you need to be experienced in it for it to be effective.

There is definately plenty of market space in the UK for some good brokers, that have the tele sales team and a good contact database.

So if anyone has the experience????

[FONT=&quot]not sure we really do either - the issue as always is getting the customer to realise the undefined potential. Because of all the factors you cant just say sales will increase 10 fold. This comes with time and investment in the website, in lots of cases and 50k sales man. . . .sorry person is worth the money because the results are more predictable. You’d think for 300 quid they'd tear your hand off.

with so many factors involved it the customer with the online initiative that normally comes looking. they need a plan to invest time and money to make the domain name work.

google is a well know domain name because of the sucess of the product. if a business is prepared to go down this route then it is difficult to persuade them that the domain name will give them added value

Hi Charlie,

I tend to find a big fat ugly "For Sale" banner across the top of my domains gives my company a handful of enquiries a day, resulting in a steady stream of sales. If I've already valued the domain, my system throws the price into the ugly banner + message box behind it....if I have not valued it, as a result of the enquiry I do a valuation, reply to the email and it gets added for the next visitor.

Potential users/their webdevs approach frequently - and my guess is that potential customers looking for end-businesses may mention a domain they associate with the business is for sale and point the users at me.

Anyway - thought you'd like to hear of another model.
