ergonomic office chair recommendations?

Looking to treat myself to an ergonomic chair and wondered if any Acorn members had any recommendations? Budget flexible, but ideally around £300. Open to suggestions both above and below that figure too.

We used to have Herman Miller Aeron's but changed to their Mirra model last time and they were cheaper and in my opinion a better design with more thought seeming to have gone into the little details. I can sit in one 16 hours a day without so much as a ache.

They retail for about £600ish but you can pick them up new on eBay for £300-£400

They have some on Ebay at the moment, new for £300. Collection only though, unfortunately. They do look good.

Really depends on the style and look you are going for, so much choice, and will it match your desk etc.

Alpha mesh are nice

400-500 ish. I had one, they are awesome.

I think the Giroflex G64 is the best chair I've ever used. It's very adjustable, the base tilts, the back tilts. The padding is not too squishy. It's also the right size to provide support, i.e. not too big so that the back rest is too far back. I would try one, but on your budget you'll have to buy second hand from an office clearance place as I think they are £400+ new.

I currently have an Orangebox X10 as that's all my local office clearance place had (I wanted a Giroflex G64). The X10 is a reasonable quality chair, the padding is not too squishy, but the base doesn't tilt and the back is too far back for my liking.

Another vote for a Herman Miller Mirra, I've slipped 3 discs but can sit in one for a full day without problems. Make sure it is fully loaded with all the adjustments, many of the cheaper ones aren't, and make sure you take time to set it up properly. Second hand ones are around £300 to £350 delivered. The only thing to watch is the mesh seat pad can rip, I've had two do it, and it is £200 for a replacement base.

I tried to get along with HM, I really did. Adjusted it carefully, but was consistently getting bad lumbar back pain. So I flogged it on eBay, and after reading a tonne of reviews, bought a Leap 2 chair - brilliant chair, back pain gone!

Not particularly trendy though AFAIK
