Please could all members here that are against the 'Accredited Channel Partner' clause 5.3.6 please sign my petition here:

Here is the clause:

5.3.6. You may, no earlier than 30 days after the expiry of a domain name on an Accredited Channel Partner Tag,take steps to transfer the domain name into your name, provided that you have previously informed the Registrant that you intend to do this and obtained their explicit consent to your doing so.
Even if you transfer a domain name in these circumstances, the original Registrant of the domain name must always retain the right to renew the domain name in question as set out in paragraph 2.1.12 above;

Bizarre wording isn't it. Once the Registrar changes the registrant legal title is theirs. If they do renew it, the wording is so loose a registrar could theoretically charge a reinstatement fee of any kind. £100+

If you want to oppose this, isn't every petition signatory better off submitting their own response to Nominet's Registrar Agreement consultation, with their individually drafted objection?

Otherwise it's just another data point that they can turn into a single line in their summary document (if that).

Edwin I agree with Foz, do both.

Nominet have a history for hiding consultation information. I think it is reasonable for members, giving the exceptional lack of transparency and openess to develop their own information databases over such critical issues.

I think it is good see a number of awareness raising initiatives to provide the members and public with information that is outside Nominet's control - notnominet.org.uk that.co.uk and thanks to Andrew for the effort.

Your own work Edwin (http://www.webmastering.co.uk/domain-names/nominet-uk-domains-all-about-money/), is course invaluable - and arguably information that should have been offered by Nominet

First line says we urge you to reply to the consultation

My aim is actually to raise awareness of the issue and get people talking about it

Fully aware Nominet may not take any notice of the number of signatures but at least the issue will have been debated

Nominet are firing out so many market changing proposals at the moment we need as many articles and sites as possible to show what really is going on here (top 20 benefits).
