fake websites to invoke drs

Has anyone had experience of this?

I have noticed a pattern in a large well know domain company making offers on one word domains and then very recently before the offer (a month or so) setting up what looks to average joe a fully functioning e-commerce site under the said {oneword}{shop/product}.co.uk

I cannot believe this happens to be by pure coincidence as the sites all look the same and the time scale is obviously a bit dodgy too
