I just saw on bloomberg there were 20 companies targeted. One of them being Yahoo
 
Yep - just shows that there are some very powerful and smart people/governments out there.

One thing that I also read is that these recent breaches were the tip of the iceberg. The most successful attacks connected to this were the large scale phishing attacks that apparently led China to be checking in and out of peoples' gmail (and other) accounts for months.

So this wasn't a direct breach of google's servers, but rather breaching the individuals accounts through catching their passwords.
