I see Verisign today have announced they are to increase the fees of .com .net:

VeriSign announced that as of Oct. 15, 2007, the registry fee for .com domain names will increase from $6.00 to $6.42 and that the registry fee for .net domain names will increase, from $3.50 to $3.85. This will be the first registry fee increase for .com and .net since the fee structure was put in place by ICANN in 1999."
Then if you add on the ICANN $0.25 tax my Enom reseller account is likely to go from $6.95 to $7.50 maybe even $8.
Does this class as a "change" in the domain name market as on http://www.nic.uk/governance/consultation/fees/ ?
Nominet should have the EGM around the same time (October) so would they increase prices also? £5 for Nominet members was also introduced in 1999 so it would be a good excuse?
IMO Nominet must consult the membership before it increases registration prices, it can't just act like Verisign has just done. If Nominet wants to remove the 75% majority in the articles how about agreeing to a 3 month consultation period instead?
Also how does this fit in with membership subscriptions? At the moment every member pays an annual subscription of £100 +VAT. So why does Nominet want control of this?
Would there be differential pricing between smaller and larger members i.e. the largest members (bulk orders) would get names for £4 each instead of £5?
Or would we see some kind of "accreditation fee"? http://www.icann.org/registrars/accreditation-financials.htm
Or would the £100 + VAT simply just increase with the rate of inflation?
