Not my Cup-of-tea, But thought it would go for about double that, 350-400. Somebody could build a humorous site around the wording, (how to say it - without saying it, sort of thing) - and i'm guessing it gets a few hundred type-ins a month
And the two domains - I mentioned sold in 'Still learning' thread' couldn't get £50 for.
Mind you a domain I sold for a good price (well I thought so 6 years ago) resold at over 15 x times that price a couple of years later. - my Brother Spotted a Mention of it in a non-domain Company release. - I wish he hadn't told me.
We all know domain selling Can be very much "pick-a-number"
Not my taste either, but I imagine somebody could get some mileage out of an auto-GIF maker type site, so that people can personalise their message and drop it on social media etc.
I'm assuming I shouldn't really reveal who it was sold to right? (relatively new here, so not sure of the etiquette). Although as I write this, they've accepted the domains onto their TAG, so you can all see who they are based on TAG, not registrant info... which is still showing as me.
I was actually quite surprised when I caught this, didn't think I would, thought it would be like all the 3L drops, where everyone would be trying to pick it up, with billions of DAC requests a seconds vs me....
Not really something i'd personally know how to sell to an end-user. Could have built it out though, and its a "unique", at least memorable, part of the internet.
Can't hold onto everything, or build out everything.
Like @Bailey, I thought it would go for more, not the BIN (£999), but i'm happy to take my 800%+ ROI and move onto the next one.
Its just the game, I let a whole bunch of 4L CHIPS go for $500/pop and watched them rocket to $8000/pop, then come "crashing down" to the current avg price.
Every time we think we know something about the domain game, it all changes anyway.
Timing plays a big part with DL, that seems to be my experience anyway...
We have a large portfolio that we have acquired over the years, some we have defined projects for but most we don't. Over the years the domain name makes us create a company, or we find a fit for a domain for a project we have, or we get a decent offer and sell, or we just sit on them wondering why we bought them
