Hi, I posted here on 6 june talking about linking www.lml.co.uk to www.buytoletmortgages.co.uk for optimizing buy to let mortgages as a search term on google.

I looked on google and it has already picked up the post dated 6th june...does this mean the google has done a crawl?

Lee

Hi Lee

Google has probably followed a link link that you posted on this very forum and indexed what it has found at the URL.

The problem is that your linking to lml.co.uk directly as such you'll be unlikely to get any search engine traffic as you'll get penalised for having duplicated content, don't worry too much as i know your working on this :)

ok

ok...but does it mean that google have crawled the web recently? is this something they do daily?

Lee

Google crawls sites 24/7.

It means that Google has been crawling this site, followed your link and crawled that page, its also likely that it will have followed links on that page too, therefore have crawled your whole site. (Crawling is not connected to PR update)

Do you have webstats installed with your hosting? I have AWstats which tells me the last time the bots crawled my sites, unfortunately it does show me which pages it has crawled.

I expect the google bot to visit my sites on a daily basis (at least) for some sites i want them crawled alot more often!

If you're host provides raw access logs just have a search for the googlebot.

Oh and Lee, just a tip.

Try adding a signature with links to some of your sites. Try something like: Landlord Mortgages | Buy To Let Mortgages

With the text linked to your domains.

what shall i write?

bftuk.....the tip...how shall I write it in the post?

see if you can sort it before you become a "senior" with 100 posts ;)

Sorted now then! Now whilst your posting you'll be leaving a little footprint for the search engines to chew on.

You'll find that you'll start to pick up links to your site from your posts. Use the signature in any forum that you post in.
