Helo,
I have a website with a wordpress blog and I have just been researching pagerank etc and came across a link selling viagra.
The thing is I never set this up or neither have i got a catagory named this either.
I have searched my dashboard and nothing, yet when i do a google search in google i have found a few spammy links that i havent set up. The links are suggesting that they are done through my website, but as i say I cant find them anywhere in my dashboard.

Anybody else experience this or can help me sus out whats going on.

Kind regards

John

Yep.. very much been hacked there :(

I would pay someone who knows about these sort of things to try and clean it up for you.

I don't personally know anyone, but from the technical conversations I see on here (that is like a foreign language to me) I'm sure there will be someone on here who can help.

I can help you too if you need it. I've been hacked before so I know the feeling!

Step one install WORDFENCE plugin and do a file scan (it will tell you what has changed vs a WP repository.

Thanks admin,
I'll try it.

Just tried the Wordfence pluggin and it seems to have detected plenty of infected files. So have cleaned up and hopefully after a little work with hosting company tomorrow all will be well again.

It looks a really good plugging.

Thanks for advice admin.

Now monitor your site with WORDFENCE. Go to the live traffic page and check for access attempts on LOGINS and Pages Not Found.

That will show you fresh hack attempts and give you the option to block their IP. You can also set email alerts so if something changes next time you will get a notification.

Thanks for bringing WORDFENCE to my attention. I'm now installing it on all my Wordpress sites to help prevent hacked sites.

Nice one, WF saved me a lot of time and it's logging is excellent for seeing who is trying to hack your site through files or Admin login attempts.

Also install the auto-update plugin, it will keep your sites WP and plugin versions updated automatically.

This is exactly what I need, TY.

Sorted it

Got it sorted, It was indeed a hack.
I ended having to replace the whole site but my thanks go to those who offered to help, Ie Kate and especially Admin. The Wordfence plugin is a real winner

Thanks again
