I have been told that with Heart you can't specify custom IPs for (eg) ns1.yourdomain.co.uk and ns2.yourdomain.co.uk. If you use plesk, you will be using custom NS per domain (looks more pro anyway tbh), and as these NS aren't authoritative they need their IPs set up at the registrar.

With 123-reg and 4dreg you can set up these IPs

Anyone else had this issue?

Wow, and their support were quite short and rude to me tbh. I'm not giving them my business.

Basically if you use plesk, then chances are you set up individual nameservers for each domain. As these nameservers are only known to your own server (not the rest of the world), to use them at a registrar, IP addresses are needed to resolve them.

Heart internet do not allow you to do this. You have to email them to set these IPs and even then it's out of the kindness of their heart! I wanted to move 115 domains from 1and1, but they told me they wouldn't set these IPs...unbelieveable.

I guess i have to go to 123-reg, although with recent talk on here, i'm very reluctant to. Is 4dreg any good? Any other alternatives?

go to fasthosts (if you need hosting) or ukreg (if you just want to park your domains).

I ahve a fasthosts account and they let you specify nameservers, not sure about ukreg though.......... (although they are the same company)

NEVER EVER use 123-reg, shambolic!

Well i have gone with 123-reg for now, just because i have another 70 domains with them. Their support is rubbish, especially their new "support site". I sent in a question, took 7 days to get a response!!!

i wanted to use custom NS with heart and it didnt allow me,

altho looking back, i do have some at heartinternet that are using my custom NS, i dunno how, maybe i transfered them from UKREG and kept the same ns.
