Hello

Longtime lurker coming out of hiding for some help please:)

I've just negociated my first purchase - a .net domain, and need help with the best proceedure to buy it.

I've searched the forum & the net, and this is what I *think* I need to do:

1. Seller - Unlock the domain
2. Me -Fill in the dotearth (current registrar) transfer form, pay the transfer fees and await for the whois to change to me
3. Seller - will be provided a security code on email
4. Me - This code is given to LCN (my domain account) to move the domain to my LCN account
5. Process completed!

If theres an easier way, please let me know! As this invloves sending the transfer forms to the Dutch seller, then onto the US registrar..........or is this normal?

Initially I called LCN and they gave me duff info, told me to tell the seller to change the ISP TAG - but apprantley .net's dont have/use these.

Thanks in advance
Ben.

If it's a .net then confusion is reigning here. You don't need paperwork to transfer a .net. PM me the domain and I'll try and help you. The price will have a lot to do with how you handle the purchase; also how well do you know the seller? Caveat emptor!

Agreed, no fees needed.

Ideally you can create an account at the registrar the domain is at.
The seller can usually then push the domain to your account for free immediately, that way you get control and you can move it to your preferred registrar afterwards which can take 5-7 days.

Once the domain is pushed to your acocunt make sure the contact & email address is updated with your details straight away so you can confirm any move to a new registrar and are made aware of any domain changes.

Thanks for the advice - its all going to plan so far, touch wood.

Domain has been pushed into my LCN account - just waiting for it to appear then I'll send the balance of the payment.
