hey everyone

well, what can i say - a mid-life career change sees me working in the world of internets. so far so good.

i would say mostly at this stage i am involved in content, but slowly moving towards the world of domain names, registrations and sales.

i have a few, but i would not know what the worst domain and the best domain i have are just yet - no doubt through trial and error i will work it out.

thanks for reading, and no doubt thanks in advance for the help and support i may well seek :D

have a good one!

Welcome aboard, don't worry about not having a "worst domain", there's plenty of time to register some junk in the mistaken belief it will be worth a fortune and then watching the "junk" you ignored sell for a 4 or 5 figure price tag :)

It is well worth taking some time to read over a lot of the old posts, there is so much useful information buried in this forum.

many thanks for the welcome and advice. I have been browsing the forum and can see it's a great way to learn.

Welcome :)

My top tops are, 1, avoid brand names and trademarks like the plague. 2, Watch what sells on here, on domainlore and on sedo to get idea's of what sells. 3, Don't mix up what sells in .com land for being worth squat in .co.uk world. .com and .co.uk in tip 2 are interchangable for almost any ext :)

many thanks for the advice and support :D

to be fair i am working for a company doing this, so not flying solo. i've been tasked with getting the interest in what we have on the domain front. just a handful at first.

gauging values does look like a minefield, i will be greatly appreciative of help in watching where i step

hopefully not going OT here, but of the ones i have been given to sell for starters i am led to believe the ones featuring "London" carry a higher price, followed by other big cities.

today i am busy with a few that, to me, look "premium", but no i am not expecting to be a multimillionaire by lunch :D

solicitorslondon.co.uk is the main one i am working on today, also have londonelectrician.co.uk and londondelivery.co.uk, all with the .uk too.

also have a couple of London "adult" related domains, but it seems now that i am registered i can no longer see that section of the forum?

any tips, or thoughts on values, appreciated. my approach is to at this stage look for likely interested buyers and communicate with them, but i would also like to learn more about the auction side of it.

Don't know much about 'geo'/local domains except that Google is taking over localized results, but the londonx ones look strong to me
