help getting started with adsense etc ...

Hello

i guess the questions i have at the moment are -

has anyone followed any of the advice on the theadsensejerk.com site - is it just another scam?

how much can i expect to make by putting adsense on my website per clicks? how many clicks to the page generally result in clicks to adsense adds - i.e how many visitors to how much revenue from this service roughly?

are there any other services like this that people use to make money for thier site? is anyone signed up for the yahoo beta program?

How do you get listed on google without paying for googles adservice?

Ive seen some jargon branded to do with the value of domain names - could you post a link to where i can learn about these metrics ?

any other advice in starting up greatly appreciated,

thanks,

Manders

Welcome to the forum :p

"how much can i expect to make by putting adsense on my website (once i have one) and how many clicks to the page generally result in clicks to adsense adds - i.e how many visitors to how much revenue from this service roughly? "

Really depends on your site. ie a high value topic should generate a higher click to you like a site about Loans, credit cards etc but on the other hand a subject like cars or music would have a lower click value but hopefully would have more traffic.

Again click through rate is dependant on the subject and how well you place the ads. Their is a skill to it and you cant just knock up a few web pages and be done.

I dont use Adsense much, I tend to use it as a filler where I either cant find a decent affiliate program or where I dont have the time. My stats are quite poor, my CTR is terrible but if done well you should be able to get 15-20% CTR.

Page impressions - 18,101,084
Clicks - 261,205
CTR - 1.44%
CPM - $2.94
Earnings - $53,261.46

Yes plenty for starters..

Have a look at http://a4uforum.co.uk and the many affiliate networks like..

cj.com
affiliatewindow.co.uk
buy.at
dgm2.com
oceanaffiliates.co.uk

PPC networks
miva.com
mirago.co.uk
search123.uk.com

"what is the best way to get your site listed on search engines? "

I only bother with Google.

Dont use any automated products or ones where you have to pay. To get listed on Google you need to have atleast one backlink from a site already indexed. Google will crawl the site already listed and then index your site when it finds its.

If you want to know the prices domains are selling for then look at domainprices.co.uk and dnjournal.com.

A fridge full of beers and 100 Malboroughs should get you going :p

Page impressions - The number of impressions is the number of times an ad is displayed on Google or on sites or products in Google's ad network. A page impression is counted each time an ad unit is displayed on a publisher's site. Page impressions are used when calculating reports for AdSense publishers, rather than ad impressions.

Clicks - In AdSense publisher reports, a click corresponds to a user’s click on any ad on a publisher's page. The Click column may also include clicks that are deemed to be invalid, and for which no earnings are generated. Clicks on PSAs are not included in publisher reports.

CTR - click through rate - In AdSense publisher reports, clickthrough rate (CTR) is the number of clicks an ad unit receives divided by the number of times the ad unit is shown (impressions).

CPM - Cost per 1000 impressions. From a publisher's perspective, CPM is a useful way to compare revenue across different channels and advertising programs. It is calculated by dividing total earnings by the number of impressions in thousands. For example, if a publisher earned $180 from 45,000 impressions, the CPM would equal $180/45, or $4.00.

Earnings - What you can spend on beers and Malboroughs :p
