That's a fair comment. I've yet to have a bad experience with them, but if I do, I'm not known for being shy with my opinions :p

Support is not as fast as it can be, tickets are answered in a few hours rather than a few minutes with some hosting companies. I can live with that for 4 quid a month, but I've never experienced any downtime that was not planned, so to me, a support ticket is not critical unless you are offline. Compare that with the likes of domain registrars such as moniker and enom where you are lucky to get a reply within 72 hours, and if it's the weekend, forget it. :p

From experience, I have seen nothing but problems when a client was using PC Smart Hosting a while ago. When there was downtime, it wasn't for short periods and the support was poor (uptime was business critical just like it is for most websites now).

Personally I now use Xilo.net for my own hosting and it's who I recommend people to as well. I have rarely had any problems, and when there has been one you will generally hear back from support within minutes rather than hours.

Obviously this is my experience, but 'caveat emptor' comes to mind as you generally get what you pay for with hosting. :)
