how do I check thousands of names without getting my IP banned from Nominet UK?

Over £500, a cheaper option is to disconnect and reconnect to the internet every thousand checks, if you're not on a fixed IP. Otherwise proxies are about your only option.

ehm.....500 pounds is out of my budget even for domains

unfortunately my IP is always the same.

Here is what happened:

I`m trying to register some names in the co.uk extension so with my software I tried to check a large list of them (thousands) and I guess my IP has been banned.

My software says that the WHOIS QUERY quota for my IP will be replenished in 78520 seconds which is about 22 hours.

So I tried to use the Moniker whois.....but I get all names I check are all available which I know it`s not true.....I did some tests but it gives me all available.....is it always because of my IP being banned?
I thought that using a registrars bulk whois, I`d get true results.

If the registrar is using whois2 (a bulk whois tool that allows them to offer a lookup service beyond their usual 1000 a day limit) then it checks the users ip address and if you have been banned you wont be able to use their whois either.

Do you also know how many names everyone can check before to get banned? Is it 1000 like for the registrars that you mentioned above or lower?

thanks but guess what? My wireless modem had an issue so I had to restart it......I had to turn it off for 1 minute otherwise I could not use internet at all.....it happens once a month....and when I was back, I tried the whois and it`s working now

so I guess I was wrong, my IP changes ....YES!! so...problem solved for now
