Was gonna register a new *forum domain but I find it's even harder to get people to post than it is to get traffic, any tips ?

It really is hard to get a forum going. Ive been there and done that a few times.

The only way they really work is if you are involved in the "scene"

That way you will be interested in starting topics and getting discussions going added with the fact you will already have a handfull of people to help you get things going.

People you know will also be able to spread the word a bit and get new members to sign up.

Think of a spin off for this forum but hasn't and wont be covered maybe.

Start one on how to make mon£y as everyone is interested in that and hopfully people will share tips.

Everyone here wants more money so suppose it's a start - just avoid domain related ideas.

Maybe purely online website ideas and the methods using web sites to make money.
Or money making ideas in general.

Im no expert but . Need any help just shout. ;)

Try this forum for forum owners/admin, fantastic help, tips, advice and information, overall a superb resource:

PS: A referral credit if you join (I'm 'Matthew' there) would be most welcome. ;)

I have a forum running and was was finding it a real pain in the arse to keep ticking over and free from Spam.

So, I asked the first genuine member if he wanted full control of it, he did, and so now runs the forum for me.

I have Google and Yahoo ads on the site, the new admin hasn't asked for a cut and he runs the forum very well.

Perhaps outsourcing is the way forward for you too?

Very interesting firestars, I like your style!

Hmmmm, I have 5+ years experience in successfully running forum boards/communities, perhaps I should sell my services? ;)

My best tip is make sure you choose a subject for your forum that people are actually going to want a forum for. What's the subject and are you sure there's the demand there?

Good advice cheers. The forum will be about IT, specifically hardware/software troubleshooting.
