How fast is your registrar?

With the new live WHOIS, you can now see how long after you order a domain that the registrar actually processes it.

I just ordered a name on 123-reg.co.uk and found:

21:00:00 email invoice received from 123-reg so application made 1 minute before

Domain still showing free until:
WHOIS lookup made at 21:05:04 18-Dec-2005 - now showing as registered

Why are you not using your own tag to register? If speed is your concern then cutting out the agent will hasten the whois entry entry, but you know this so....am I missing something?

Yes I was purely testing how fast 123-reg reg names!

God 1&1 take forever! Very slow, but then i am using their 'Instant (that's a joke!!) Domain Registration package'. No need to keep putting cc details in, just a few clicks and it's done.
