Hi all,

I've registered some .co domain names that I'd love to either develop into PPC sites or sell on, their listed below:

carhire.co
timeshare.co
apartment.co
winterbreaks.co
summerbreaks.co

How do I go about either developing them into PPC sites (probably utilising the fact that people will miss out the 'm' in .com)? They were registered 2 days ago and are just sat there at the minute. Would also be open to selling them outright and have carhire.co listed on sedo at the minute (having trouble getting the others to be verified on Sedo as they don't seem to be getting forwarded like carhire.co).

Any thoughts or advice?

Cheers.

Sorry mate, you've wasted your money. Now don't follow that with wasting your time, just let them drop mate and move on with developing uk ext's.

Unless you are intending to make money on typos you can forget it.

The general formula used by many regulars here is:-

Step 1: Register domains
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit!

Opinions differ as to how well this approach works.

Different views on .co from different members.

either see how the aftermarket develops to sell into

or develop carhire (with subdomains) as a ppc to see if there is a profit.

You may not be able to get the .co very well raked at the moment, but that shouldn't affect ppc

The problem with trying to develop PPC sites on those domains is the same problem you'd have trying to develop on any other domain. You need expertise to make it work and deep pockets to be able to refine the business model and make the conversions happen at a sustainable and profitable rate.

Whether the domains are worth more than the reg fee is another matter.

organic search v.ppc

Storebuilder is right, but you may be able to go down the organic search route soon when google allows geo targeted .co

still hard work and subdomains will not give the benefit that they would with a ppc campaign

but cheaper than a ppc

Development:
- Learn web design.
- Learn online marketing techniques. SEO / articles / PR.
- Read affiliate forums / blogs.

Selling domains:
- Promote domains on forums or contact end users directly via letter. Write a good pitch letter explaining why they should buy the domain.

In general maintain optimism and you will make it.

I think Accelerator has hit the nail on the head with this one. Buying domains in niche markets and then contacting businesses in the market has got to be a good way of doing it.

hiya

dont waste any more of your more on .co names go for TLD names if possible

I think TMM was meaning that .co is a ccTLD rather than a gTLD. Yes, both are TLDs, but we all know that gTLD is more top level than ccTLD, if you know what I mean!

Yeh, I'm not as daft as I look, either - but I do think those names have a chance of making money.

If you can make money on a .de, then a .co, hosted properly, should be a viable option. The man needs help, not people casting aspersions ...
