Got a recent offer from a smooth operator for a single word generic co.uk domain, he wrote to me as follows.

I have spoken to the client wishing to purchase the domain and they have offered £50 for the purchase of the domain. They’ve based their price on the fact that they can get similar domains for around £10, but see there’s an obvious charge involved for transferring domains etc from your ISP to mine.

I hope this is of interest to you,

Many Thanks

tell them they can rent it for £50 per day on a 24 month contract :)

That's funny :D

I sent a few emails out earlier this year asking for £500 for a domain (which had a £200 offer on the table), one guy wrote back and said [something similar to] "We own a few domains so know they are worth around £6 each, as this domain is of interest to us we can start the negotiations at £12"

To be honest, it depends what the word was! Not every single word generic is worth hundreds or thousands of pounds. I have several that I'd be happy to get £50 for!!

For example -

steadily.co.uk
broadly.co.uk
secondly.co.uk
garaged.co.uk
achy.co.uk
dunt.co.uk

I had a similar call/email today, referencing a gent with a fishy name in Bradford. Connected?
