NEW JUST WWW.UK! (.CO 2 GO)!

Regards
www.evie.uk Lol

there goes all that investment in co.uk

bugger

I don't think these names are generally available, I haven't even heard them mentioned in any other domain site or listed on any WHOIS checker.

Has anyone else found another example of it? (other than evie.uk :) ) nice try

There's a few knocking about. Registered I think before Nominet took over. ai.co.uk was suspended last year, but was taken out of circulation when it dropped.

ds.co.uk

The only possibility of the .co being dropped is if the Nominet membership vote for it which seems like turkeys voting for christmas...until you take a closer look at the weighted voting system Nominet use. Schlund and 123 have enormous weighted voting power over the the other members. If those two see a commercial advantage to their operations by dropping .co then it might just happen over our collective heads

bl.uk and british-library.uk were registered long before Nominet started and before the naming group decided to use the second-level co.uk. But were allowed to carry on using the domains.

(This is what I read somewhere ages ago.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.uk#Individual_institutions

It is prohibited to register a domain name directly under .uk (such as .internet.uk) and a second-level domain must be used (such as internet.co.uk). However, some domains delegated before the creation of Nominet UK remain.

  • .bl.uk and .british-library.uk - British Library
  • .icnet.uk - Imperial Cancer Research Fund
  • .jet.uk - Joint European Torus
  • .nel.uk - National Engineering Laboratory
  • .nls.uk and .national-library-scotland.uk - National Library of Scotland
  • .parliament.uk - Parliament of the United Kingdom

That can't be correct for parliament.uk. Check the whois record - it is not pre-Nominet. Isn't this rather a statement of Parliament's independance of the actual government, in that it is not within .gov.uk?
