You ever seen what happens if you chev chelios in a maze ?

Think pacman on speed :p

I'd suggest starting to learn basic html, the rest gets easier :)

I'd take a look through the help tutorials. If you look on my WebRef.eu site, scroll down on the home page and you'll see some Web Design related sections, see those for some help.

What are you all babbling all. Dreamweaver is a powerful application for building website and you are all terming it as a garbage.:confused:

Two Words "Rip off" £600 for a license :(:(

Keep it and I'll use a text editor

TextPad FTW.

However Dreamweaver went sour at CS4 for me... I stick to CS3.

It's a total waste of money.

Code view - You can get all the features in a free text editor my fave is notepad++

Design view - Waste of time, just preview your html files in a browser..that will give you a much more accurate view of how your site will look in a...well...browser!

Dreamweaver adds some terrible non semantic bulky html and CSS.

If you know anything about html and CSS you wouldn't use it.

oh so true,i usually construct a site in dreamweaver then do a w3c correction facility to remove the bulk.

I'm probably one of the few users on here who an write css, xhtml strict valid and a decent whack of php in notepad. Hell i have even wrote code into this very box using my mobile phone before now.

I use dreamweaver, not because everyone said so, because it increases my productivity and reduces my spelling mistakes.
A mcclaren f1 is a fantastic racing car, however its not much use if your only used to driving an automatic corolla now is it?
Hence if you learn fundametal html /css then dreamweaver will help you alot.

The main things i use are the colour coding which aside from zend studio dw has one of the best. I also use the autocomplete, tag closer and autosuggestion tools code helpers which speeds me up significantly and means less time checking for typos.

If dreamweaver had a code walk thru like zend i'd move fully. Thats one feature i miss from vb/vc and one of the best debugger tools out there.

So if you don't know the basics dreamweaver is like harrier jump jet, good at what it does but no use if you only drive a car.

Also, I would just learn how to put a very basic page structure together. I still use an incredibly simple layout for my pages. Actually, I still use tables for my layout, I used to use a 760 pixel wide table split into two columns of 500 pixels and 260 pixels, and that was it. I usually get flak off the CSS purists for saying this, but table layout does the job and you can get on with web marketing and earning. So, I would just learn how to insert a table first.

If someone is starting from scratch then i would 100% recommend css, it is not that difficult and it is the standard.

been playing around with it....but i ran out of the will to live after a couple of hours.
was a moody copy so no loss, thank god!!
i think i will just stick to the day job:rolleyes:

Search for the code i posted for the parking script. It was by edwin called parking vs mini sites vs other or something like that. I included a very basic layout in tables and stuff that includs php, mysql, css and sending emails in a few hundred lines.

Its a useful application that you can use to learn and customize for your own domain parking :)

I'm also happy to help ya with that script since i wrote i i know it inside out :)

tables are bullet proof i find and therefore ideal for putting together a simple site - and very easy to think about when using notepad - i find css can be a little more interesting especially when it doesnt work in a certain browser.

I think for simple sites then accelerator has the right idea - work on a template that allows you to accommodate some variation and then then just change colours and graphics to suit - in most cases for us lot its just a matter of getting something out there.

does anyone have a rough idea what they would expect (like to?) to pay for a simple three page site?

Charlie, look at the deal Dale and Simon are offering on DropSys, those prices are about the average on a mini site.
