Hi everybody,

First things first. I'm new here so welcome to me!!!

A few years ago (about year 2000) I purchased a domain name using UK2.Net. I have always made sure that I have kept up repayments on hosting fees and have never let the domain name expire. However, the WhoIs registry for this particular domain name says that the legal owner of the domain name is somebody else!! It's like it's been stolen!!! I only recently renewed the domain name again and UK2.net let me proceed. If it really belonged to somebody else, how come they let me renew it?

So, how could this have happened and how do I solve this problem? Any suggesttions???

Cheers,

John

Welcome to the forum.

Is it a .uk domain name?

Is the admin email address still in use by you, if it isn't then somebody else may have got that same email address and then used it to steal the domain off you. What is the domain anyway?

First thing I would do is contact UK2.net but beware their customer service is even worse than 123-reg so you may have to wait a long time for a reply. :(

Do you have an email confirmation from UK2 confirming that you renewed it on a specific date?

Hi thanks for the answers. The admin e-mail address is still in use by me and yes I have an e-mail about when I renewed the domain name. The thing is I used to be the registered owner according to WhoIs but don't seem to be anymore, even though i've kept up all the repayments and never let the domain expire.

OK well at this stage, the best thing for you to do is to contact UK2's support and ask them why the domain appears to be owned by someone else despite you paying for its renewal.

Give them as much information as possible.

Please let us know how you get on...
