Google posted a case study of launching its own .google domain extension and shared some recommendations for businesses considering doing the same.
Based on its experience, Google cites three advantages:
However, domain expert Andrew Allemann, author of Domain Name Wire, expresses skepticism, pointing out that Google hosts many services on google.com.
Why should you care? Brand TLDs (top-level domains) can be a powerful tool for enhancing reputation and brand protection, but they are not suitable for everyone. Registering your own domain extension requires significant investment and adherence to strict ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) rules. Therefore, branded extensions are more suitable for large corporations looking to enhance their brand’s visibility in the market. Joe Alagna and Andrey Insarov talked in detail about it in their book, “How to Get Your Own Top-Level Domain,” a practical guide to the 2026 Round of ICANN’s Program.
In other cases, it’s more effective to use ready-made and diverse extensions, which help maintain brand recognition and reduce costs. For instance, if you need a domain for some IT-solutions, you can consider the .it.com extension.

Liz Reid, Google’s vice-president of Search, recently said that AI Overviews (an energizing summary that automatically appears at the top of Google search results) highlight content that encourages clicks and engagement. She noted that user behavior influences Google’s ranking algorithms, favoring content that offers depth, unique perspectives, and high quality over superficial or repetitive material. Reid emphasized that the system learns and adapts based on user feedback, adjusting to preferred content types like text, video, and forums.
Reid explained that content generated by artificial intelligence (AI) isn’t inherently bad, search engines don’t consider it spam and rank it. However, low-quality content, regardless of its origin (AI-generated or human-created), is penalized. She said users value human insights and unique perspectives, leading to higher click-through rates and lower bounce rates for richer content. Google aims to surface deeper, creator-driven content in AI Overviews, avoiding generic or uninformative material.
The updated spam definition now includes content that merely repeats well-known information, giving more weight to original, valuable content. This shift indicates a focus on quality and distinctiveness in AI search results.
Why should you care? Changes in search require adapting GEO, SEO and content strategies. To remain visible, website owners need to optimize content; add visuals, structure information, and use microdata. The key is to focus on the quality of content regardless of whether it is created by AI or humans.

ChatGPT users can now interact with certain apps, including Spotify and Canva, directly within the chatbot, thanks to OpenAI’s new Apps SDK, unveiled at DevDay.
ChatGPT can make recommendations and redirect users to apps. For example, Spotify can help you create a playlist for a party, while Canva can help you create posters for your business directly from a ChatGPT conversation. A limited number of apps are currently available, but the number will continue to grow. DoorDash, OpenTable, Target, and Uber will be added in the coming weeks. OpenAI will also begin accepting applications for new apps.
Why should you care? Integrating third-party apps like Spotify, Canva, and others with ChatGPT transforms the tool from a “text assistant” into a fully-fledged platform for multimedia content creation and accelerates workflows. For marketers, content creators, website owners, and others this offers an opportunity to increase testing speed, reduce routine workloads, and build more cohesive cross-channel campaigns, as they don’t have to switch between services but can work directly from a single chat window, connecting the necessary tools on demand.

Google Encourages Companies to Use Branded TLDs
Google posted a case study of launching its own .google domain extension and shared some recommendations for businesses considering doing the same.
Based on its experience, Google cites three advantages:
- Security: control over the extension and its uniqueness provide a high level of protection. Google, for example, maintains its blog on blog.google.
- Website transfer: moving to a branded extension doesn’t harm SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
- Brand protection: a custom extension reduces the risk of phishing and fraud. However, Google recommends registering a branded domain in the .com extension to prevent its hijacking and use in fraudulent schemes.
However, domain expert Andrew Allemann, author of Domain Name Wire, expresses skepticism, pointing out that Google hosts many services on google.com.
