Internet brothers turn down £250,000 for top website domain name

Four years ago, Internet entrepreneurs Paul and Steve Walsh spent £25 on the domain name Bargains.co.uk. They could have realised a net return of £250,000 on their investment if they'd sold to a High Street retailer interested in buying the name six weeks ago.
But the net savvy brothers behind a number of profit making web sites, including hotel room service www.laterooms.com and multi-quote insurance service www.easycover.com decided to forge ahead with their own plans for the valuable domain name and today, Thursday 12th October, launched their new online service at [URL="http://www.bargains.co.uk/"]http://www.bargains.co.uk.[/URL]
Three years ago, the pair looked at what was happening in the states and caught on to the value of descriptive domain names such as business.com or loans.com.
Working late one night in September 1996, the couple snapped up a number of the best UK descriptive names for just £25 each, including Bargain.co.uk, Bargains.co.uk, Quote.co.uk, Deals.co.uk, Offers.co.uk and Electricity.co.uk

Old news but years on, the sites don't look as good as they should IMO.

Was it four years ago or eleven years (1996) ago that they bought/ regged bargains.co.uk? I hate inexactitudes in reporting.

Maybe the press release was from the year 2000 in which case it was 4 years ago when it was reported.

I doubt the 250k offer was back in the year 2000.
