The "gordon" guy who posted a comment needs to reduce his exposure to diet coke I think the aspartame may have damaged his brain.

If I was concerned about it I would secure rights in the name via international trademarks and then claim all the appropriate domains.

Thanks for sharing Oscar O'Connor's account of this meeting. Very informative account and very grateful that he went to the trouble of detailing all the events of that evening. He confirms there was:

a room for 35
8 from nominet
1 from Digital Policy Alliance
3 from BCS

6 attendees (including Oscar)

2 barred entry (threatened with physical ejection by security)

And they still couldn't put forward any valid case for .uk in the second level. Shows just how desperate nominet are to send 8 members of staff to a meeting that they knew would only have 6 attendees - and to then bar entry to 2 others. Fortunately those who did get in were well acquainted with the issues and nominet weren't able to pull the wool over their eyes.

this was hilarious.

- If you were offered the equivalent second-level domain to the third-level domain you already own, would you purchase it? This got a unanimous YES.

- Why? This got a unanimous answer too... "to prevent anyone else from getting it."

I'm sure you'll agree that this does not really constitute support for the proposal.
