Is it Expiry date or upto Cancellation date?

Can anybody please clarify if for .co.uk it is the expiry date up to 28 10 2013 or will rights be conferred on the .co.uk if it was not cancelled but expired before 28 10 2013, as it was on whois at that date in suspended state?

As the .co.uk domains being captured now expired August / September 2013.

Hope that makes sense, but it occurred to me my catches today might not qualify on the .co.uk was registered on 28 10 2103 as they expired ages ago.

It appears that if the domain existed on Oct 28th, then when it drops after that, it still qualifies as it was the qualifying domain up to the 28th, but proper written confirmation from Nominet would be good.
